A Monster You’d Want to Meet: SLIPPAZ DADON

TONY SLIPPAZ AKA SLIPPAZ DADON / 2025 RESURRECTION

“I’ve witnessed almost everything one can witness from the good to bad; my story has stories within them, that are genuine and that’s what makes me different, tells my story through my eyes my way!” –SLIPPAZ

April 2026 / İstanbul – New York

First of all, I want to thank you for the interest you’ve shown in my amateur webzine. It’s really cool to hear from you—it’s like facing your fears! As an MC who’s battled alongside and shared the stage with key figures in the New York hardcore scene for so long, I was honestly disappointed to find almost no written material about you online.

I do all of my work myself, I’m kinda anti social and don’t jump on to others connections, so I slip right through just doing what I do!

Is there no longer as much value placed on music writing or intellectual depth as there used to be?

I def think there is, I’ve seen some good write ups recently, just maybe lack of interviewing the underdog cause everyone chasing a name to attach to!

Or is it that kids passionate about underground publishing—those who really put their minds to this work—are gradually becoming powerless under the hegemony of bigger platforms like YouTube or social media?

I believe social media has shaped the way people support or work, everyone rather use a cheat code and go for what viral instead of making something viral.

What do you want to say?

I wanna say I appreciate you taking your time to interview me and anyone who hasn’t heard me check it out may not be your cup of tea but it’s something you can enjoy, refreshing!

“When I went through my federal charges alot of people left my side – a lot – Diablo never did; its why I go so much love for him!” SLIPPAZ

Some serious MCs lament that hip-hop culture is becoming increasingly degenerate and simplistic—do you agree?

I believe the whole world has become simplistic, so there hip hop follows…

From your perspective, considering the music you make and your life experiences, what have you witnessed in your personal history?

I’ve witnessed almost everything one can witness from the good to bad, my story has stories within them, that are genuine and that’s what makes me different, tells my story through my eyes my way !

How would you summarize the phases that hip-hop, rap, or hardcore music has gone through, based on your own observations and experiences?

I believe it’s growing as all of humanity – 100 years ago none of this existed – music started with no hold and I feel slowly grew to be molded !

“Some still break the mold but you gotta find them.” SLIPPAZ

NO ESCAPE !!

The game is def more for the listeners, without them we don’t exist – ask the under dog – so much Welton not searched but so much work being done off of love for creativity !!! That I love most about music – I hate people who waste time or talent.SLIPPAZ

Given his close ties to old-school legends like Danny Diablo, I imagine you’re been part of the scene since the ’90s.

I actually was a street guy and a bit younger then most of them. I didn’t really be introduced to the scene till I met Danny Diablo and we met on a street level but been doing music ever since – when I went through my federal charges alot of people left my side – a lot – Diablo never did; its why I go so much love for him!

Instead of focusing on an album release, artists are choosing to release singles at regular intervals. How would you interpret this shift, considering both the positive and negative impacts of the internet and digital services on music?

I actually signed up for BMI a long time before I started releasing music and I remember they use to email letter on how to be a better artist and one was always drop single and not albums cause if you ever go to show your number your albums says don’t look like they flopped – grow with single and when they demand give then the hole thing.

There are also critics who, taking both artists and listeners into account, argue that this system is exploitative.

The game is def more for the listeners, without them we don’t exist – ask the under dog – so much Welton not searched but so much work being done off of love for creativity !!! That I love most about music – I hate people who waste time or talent.

“Music always related to me of the street stuggle. Thug life was really an agenda pushed by the government, but it’s a life of many perceptions to different people.” –SLIPPAZ

I’m a 90s baby a product of the 80s crack era – my mother was a junky and my father a piece of shit so that music always related to me of the street stuggle.

I believe being a gangster is stupid, someone who doesn’t think consciously, no thought of consequences or others lives – sometimes it a faze sometimes it how some people grow.” SLIPPAZ

How and to what extent is being masculine and tough important for you in life and art?

Protection of my loved ones – I have a child – younger brothers and sisters – also a masculine man should protect those weaker than them!
