Could you help me get through this?

All the pain that I live with –GENO CULTSHIT

Geno Cultshit (born Garrett Erskine) was an influential underground horrorcore rapper and singer from Kenosha, Wisconsin. He is best known as the co-founder of the underground rap duo Dark Half. Highly regarded within the independent hip-hop community, his music merged aggressive horrorcore themes with raw, deeply personal vulnerability, often tackling mental health, substance addiction, and emotional turmoil.

Erskine began writing lyrics in 2004 and recorded his earliest tracks around 2006. In his formative underground days, he performed under different names—including his “Prolifik” moniker—before cementing his signature “Cultshit” persona.

Geno established and popularized the term “Cultshit” as a brand, a lifestyle subculture, and an inclusive rallying cry for underground music fans and independent artists who felt like outcasts.

Dark Half and the Cultshit Movement

In the late 2000s, Geno joined forces with fellow Wisconsin-based artist Damien Quinn to form Dark Half. Together, they became pillars of the independent Midwest horrorcore and “Wicked Wisconsin” scenes.

Dark Half departed from standard slasher-movie shock tropes. Instead, they pioneered a style that blended eerie atmospheres with real-life trauma, depression, and personal demons. Geno established and popularized the term “Cultshit” as a brand, a lifestyle subculture, and an inclusive rallying cry for underground music fans and independent artists who felt like outcasts.

Geno signed with the independent label Lyrikal Snuff Productionz (LSP), which allowed him to collaborate frequently with industry underground mainstays like Scum, Liquid Assassin and Razakel.

Prolifik, an old friend of Garrett Erskine’s, at his grave. (2025)

Geno Cultshit passed away unexpectedly on August 18, 2015, at the age of 27.

His sudden death profoundly impacted the underground rap community. He is uniquely remembered for his musical duality—specifically, his rare capability to shift seamlessly between aggressive, rapid rap verses and somber, hauntingly melodic singing.
